We're thrilled to share that Intact Insurance has been recognised at the inaugural Insurance Post Diversity and Inclusion in Insurance awards - a celebration of the people and organisations driving real, lasting change across our industry. These awards shine a spotlight on those championing inclusion, whether through mental health advocacy, LGBTQ+ support, disability awareness, or advancing gender and racial equity.
Last week, hundreds of insurance professionals gathered to celebrate individuals and teams driving real progress across inclusion, accessibility and far representation. Judges praised the incredible quality and volume of entries this year, calling it a clear sign of "how far the industry has travelled on cultural change". We're proud to say Intact Insurance is helping lead that journey.
The first award of the evening went to Ian Rayner, Head of UK Business Continuity Management, recognised for his pivotal role in advancing our menopause awareness campaign. Ian helped shift the narrative from silence to support—turning conversations that were once avoided into opportunities for empathy, openness and understanding.
Ian’s commitment and leadership have reinforced the message that menopause is not just a women's issue, but a shared workplace responsibility. A visible and vocal supporter of the 'My Men-know Pause' campaign, Ian shared his learning journey and encouraged male colleagues to reflect on their role in supporting those affected by menopause. His openness inspired colleagues to become active, informed and compassionate allies, normalising dialogue and reducing stigma around menopause.
Ian’s allyship has had a measurable and lasting impact, elevating Intact Insurance’s voice in the national conversation on workplace wellbeing and gender equity, and contributing to broader societal change.
The Menopause Support Cafés are my real passion because everyone will either know someone that has, is, or will go through the menopause at some stage, or is personally navigating what can be a difficult and uncertain time. I love being able to provide support—or even just enable conversations about previously taboo subjects. As a Leader and a husband, I didn’t realise how unprepared I was to support my team and my wife during such a significant life change, and that greater understanding is needed at every level. If we can help someone feel a little better or know they’re not alone, that’s what matters.

We’re delighted to celebrate Ruth Poulten, Head of People Experience, honoured for her outstanding leadership and advocacy.
As Co-Chair of our Balance employee resource group (ERG), Ruth has driven cultural change and delivered impactful initiatives, including the Male Allies programme, which doubled its target with over 180 sign-ups. Her influence extends beyond Intact Insurance, leading Smart Works clothing drives, charity fundraisers, and hosting a broker event to spark industry-wide dialogue on equity. Ruth also spearheaded a social mobility programme for 130 young people – 39% women – resulting in four permanent hires to our business. She also volunteers as a Trustee for national social mobility youth employment charity LTSB, supporting young people from disadvantaged backgrounds into meaningful roles. Ruth's openness about navigating career progression through three maternity leaves and the motherhood penalty has helped shape our inclusion strategy and inspired others to lead with empathy and courage.
Today, Ruth continues to mentor future talent and build a culture where men and women can thrive while balancing leadership and parenthood. Under her guidance, the Balance ERG has become a model for employee-led change, embedding gender equity into the fabric of our organisation.
It’s wonderful to be recognised for something I am truly passionate about, born from my lived experiences, which is why I’m dedicating this award to my incredible Mum. Widowed at 34 with three young children in 1981, she was a housewife with no paid job. The daily struggle was real. Putting one foot in front of the other, she became a warrior, giving us every opportunity she could. Her resilience shaped me. It’s now a privilege to contribute to a more inclusive future and help make things better for others.
