We prefer to insure:
- Installations of proven design
- Installations that have been installed, operated and maintained by industry experts
- Installations in line with original equipment manufacturers' requirements
These include:
- Wind energy – onshore wind installations over 500 kilowatts
- Solar energy – ground-mounted solar installations which meet security and maintenance standards and roof-mounted assets on non-combustible buildings
- Hydro energy – run-of-the-river and Archimedes screw hydro schemes under 10 megawatts
- Bioenergy – biomass heating systems under 500 kilowatts
- Short term operating reserve (STOR) – utility-scale (500 kilowatts to 20 megawatts) commercial installations
- Battery energy storage systems (BESS) – utility-scale (500 kilowatts to 20 megawatts) commercial installations
Non-preferred risks
We prefer not to insure:
- Installations not of proven design
- Installations that have been installed, operated or maintained without industry experts
- Installations not in line with original equipment manufacturers' requirements
