In this part of the series, we chat to our Corporate Real Estate (CRE) team. They’re the experts who ensure or workspaces support collaboration, innovation and efficiency. We chat to Gerry Campbell, Director of CRE and Security, and Tracey Kind, Head of CRE Change.
Gerry: Our remit covers all of our Intact Insurance UK, Europe, Dubai and India offices. Our entire team are homeworkers, however more often than not, Tracey spends two weeks of most months on the road visiting our offices. I’ve been at Intact Insurance for 12 years and I very quickly pulled Tracey into the team some 11 years ago!
Gerry: Our roles are amazingly varied and that’s one of the reasons we love what we do. The biggest area for us is translating our ever-evolving business strategy to property, and what we need to provide from a real estate solution perspective, where, when and how big.
Tracey heads up our multiple change packages and leads a team of internal business partners and external professional services (architects, engineers, cost consultants, fit-out companies and more). When she is not doing that, she is overseeing a Total Facilities Management (TFM) contract that we have with with a partner in the UK.
I’m also responsible for the physical security of our assets and our people, and I lean on a small team of two Security Managers and our amazing team of security officers that man our National Control Centre in Horsham 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, covering all of the UK, Europe, Dubai and India.
Tracey: We’ve been on a massive property journey since I began working at Intact Insurance, and we have nearly transformed our property footprint in the UK. When I started, we managed circa 1 million sq.ft of property and within the next 12 to 18 months it will be in the region of 250,000 sq.ft.
More recently we have been working to right-size our office spaces across part of our UK business. This has included an additional floor in London 22 Bishopsgate and new offices in Bristol, Manchester and Leeds. Next, we are on to fitting out a new office for our colleagues in Horsham.
On top of this massive programme of change we also operate the general facilities to run our offices, giving our colleagues what they need to deliver brilliant service for our customers every day.
Gerry: At the heart of our success is a strong sense of team – a deep loyalty and commitment to each other has allowed us to deliver so much. It’s this unwavering teamwork that allows us to deliver outstanding results, often behind scenes, yet always with a strong sense of personal and professional pride.
Delivering this amount of change across such a geography, at the same time, when we have to be on site to manage the fit-outs, mobilisation and delivery could only have been done by a team that is willing to go the extra mile (literally).
I’d also like to give a special congratulations to Tracey, who has been recognised for her incredible contributions to a recent project with a Bravissimo award! Her dedication is a shining example of the excellence we strive for every day.
