Our archive auction makes a meaningful difference for UK Youth

Historic insurance artefacts, remarkable stories and generous bidders came together this summer to help create brighter futures for young people across the UK.
Across two charity auctions held in partnership with Special Auction Services, we raised an incredible £88,646 for UK Youth, helping to support programmes such as Building Aspirations. These programmes help young people build skills, grow confidence, and take positive steps towards employment.
The auctions featured a unique collection of items from Intact Insurance's archives, many of which had never previously been available to the public. From rare fire marks and historic documents, to silverware, artwork and insurance memorabilia, bidders had the opportunity to own a piece of insurance history while contributing to an important cause.
The events formed part of our ongoing partnership with UK Youth and reflected our commitment to building resilient communities and helping the next generation thrive. Proceeds from the auctions will help support UK Youth's work with young people across the country, including employability and skills programmes that empower young people to achieve their potential.
The auctions attracted interest from collectors, historians and insurance enthusiasts alike, with many lots sparking competitive bidding and generating enthusiasm for the stories behind the objects.
Each item offered a unique glimpse into the history of insurance and the people connected to it, helping preserve and share an important part of our heritage while creating meaningful impact today.
Sold for £4900.
A silver three-piece garniture, comprising a large twin handled cup, with a pair of matched smaller examples. Each bearing the Phoenix Assurance Company crest.
Estimated at £50-£100. Sold for £4100.
Presented by Mrs J H Dixon, in red with Merryweather & Son Engineers Longacre Lambeth London on the back, and County logo on the side.
Sold for £3200.
Included the claim form relating to Churchill's home burglary in 1959, detailing the stolen items. The correspondence with the loss adjusters, receipts, copy of the valuation of insured contents, a signed letter of thanks from Clementine Churchill, and a countersigned cheque by Churchill to acknowledge receipt of the cheque issued in 1959.
These artefacts represent an important part of insurance history and deserve to be seen and appreciated by people who recognise their significance.
For many years, these items have been carefully preserved within our archives. By bringing selected pieces into the public domain, we are ensuring they can continue to be recognised and appreciated, while also helping create positive impact for young people through our partnership with UK Youth.
These auctions are an opportunity to connect the heritage of our industry with practical support that can help young people build confidence, develop skills and take positive steps towards their future.
