Standard cover
We offer cover for:
- Property damage, including damage from fire, flood, storm, theft or subsidence
- Loss of rent following an insured event
- Terrorism, including property damage and loss of rent resulting from a terrorist act (excludes Northern Ireland)
- Property owners’ liability for third-party injury or property damage
- Employers’ liability for employee injury or illness arising from their work

- Fly-tipping clean-up costs
- Illegal drug cultivation clean-up
- Eviction of squatters

This product is designed for customers who own, manage, or are responsible for insuring one or more properties.
The cover is not aimed at individuals or consumers wanting to insure their own home.
Risk appetite
Preferred risks
We prefer to cover portfolios focused on commercial property, including:
- Offices
- Retail and shopping centres
- Leisure facilities
- Hotels
- Single occupancy warehousing
- Manufacturing – without clean rooms
- Hospitals and elderly care homes
- Residential risks – up to 20% of total insured value within a portfolio
We also prefer to cover:
- Properties of non-combustible construction
- Properties in low-risk flood and subsidence areas
- Customers with good risk management
- Customers with low claims frequency
We will consider portfolios with residential risks that are up to 40% of the total insured value.
Non-preferred risks
We prefer not to cover:
- Standalone residential or unoccupied risks
- Properties undergoing redevelopment or refurbishment
- Residential risks exceeding 40% of total insured value within a portfolio
- Waste and recycling risks
- Mining risks
- Growing or standing timber, shrubs or crops
- Overhead transmission and distribution lines
- Tyre and rubber risks – including manufacturing, storage or processing
- Chemicals risks
- Abattoirs, tanneries, or animal testing facilities
- Self-storage facilities
- Lithium-ion risks – including manufacturing, storage or processing
- Food processing risks with combustible construction
- Data centres
- Risks with clean room
- Non-UK based companies
